Mary Golé '46
It is with a heavy heart that I write this post: Our beloved Mary Golé '46 died peacefully on October 27th at the age of 91.
Mary was always such a warm, cheerful, enthusiastic and wonderful presence at all of our events. Personally, I will always hold dear that inimitable twinkle in her eyes!
A religious ceremony will take place on Friday, November 4 at 14h30 at Notre Dame de l'Assomption in Bellevue, Meudon followed by the burial at 16h15 at the Longs Réages cemetery, 29 avenue de la Paix, Meudon.
Her spirit is captured in an article Mary wrote to include in Wellesley Magazine's classnotes last year:
“Happy to say all is well, in spite of arthritis, digestive problems, and hearing loss. I am still living alone in my apartment near Paris, doing my own cooking and being helped for other domestic tasks. My four children are scattered around the globe, but my oldest son lives five minutes away. As you know, worldwide violence has not spared Paris, but it is still an enjoyable city. I had a wonderful 90th-birthday party last summer in my farmhouse in Brittany. I was surrounded by family and friends, with the surprise visit from my American sister-in-law. We had a feast in the barn, complete with French and Irish songs, guitar, and accordions. It was like being in a French movie! Sorry I won’t be able to make it to the reunion t his year, but enjoy!”
